It is here…”Christmas” for Flag Dealers! Yep, the Flag Season has officially arrived. It started the week before Memorial Day, goes through Flag Day in June, and ends after July 4.

My neighbors, the Blairs, are on it. This week they decorated their old home with vintage bunting from FlagandBanner.com. They have a 1930 home with cream paint and red brick. The vintage bunting looks fabulous! People stop and ask them, “Where did you get the antique looking decorations and are they really old?” Dan Blair tells them he found it in the attic and it is from the first World Fair. Man he is a good B S’r.

I put the traditional red, white and blue bunting on my house. There is so much to choose from now days, you can go crazy. But if you don’t want to make any decisions you can keep it simply by buying one of our many home decorating kits.

June is the month we begin to celebrate patriotism. On June 4 Arkansas� FlagandBanner.com owner, Kerry McCoy, started her morning early with KARK Channel 4�s co-host Tracy Douglass to show the viewers how to �Do The Red White and Blue.� Kerry and her team decorated the exterior of Tracy Douglass� house for the upcoming patriotic season.The first two segments centered on the decorations in the front yard. They draped the outside of her garage with a patriotic swag of red white and blue bunting that framed an American flag. Lit patriotic citronella candles and U.S. stick flags decorated her garden. Her porch eave featured full fans with wind chimes, and her porch railing repeated the patriotic sway of bunting used above the garage.

The last segment illustrated ways to decorate the backyard, the favorite place for 4th of July family gatherings. The back porch was outfitted with stars and stripes pulldowns and full fans, and more full fans and a U.S. flag kit adorned her fence. Kerry and Tracy also showed viewers the wide variety of products offered at her company, Flagandbanner.com from cake stands to patriotic bikinis and sunglasses, to flagpole brackets and pole kits. The morning segment ended with the National Anthem sung by a special guest, Kerry�s son, Grady McCoy, a voice student at Indiana University. Wreath for P. Allen Smith Gardens

In a patriotic-themed program to air on April 17, 2006,
P. Allen Smith Gardens asked FlagandBanner.com’s founder and owner, Kerry McCoy, to create a fresh-flower arrangement to celebrate the USA. Kerry chose red American Beauty roses and baby’s breath to build a gorgeous live wreath and topped it off with a stars and stripes bow. Kerry shows how easy it is to create an elegant and impressive way to accent your patriotic celebration. Use yellow roses to create a stunning welcome home tribute for a brave soldier. In the above photo, Mandy Stanage Shoptaw, producer for the P. Allen Garden show, directs Kerry in the proper method to address the camera. The segment was shot on location at the FlagandBanner.com headquarters.

I past this home owner’s 20-foot flagpole and flag at Barrow Rd. and Markham yesterday during the ice storm were it was withstanding brutal winds, sleet, snow and rain. Today it remains without a single tear or tathered edge.

Families and friends will be piling into their cars to cruise slowly through their neighborhoods for a look at holiday light displays.

And while it’s Christmastime, people will begin to realize that patriotism is in the air.

Trees will be trimmed in red, white and blue. Outdoor lights will sparkle with the colors of Old Glory, and messages of Christmas cheer will share space on the lawn with an American flag.
